Nico was born in Mexico City where his interest in film began at age 9 visiting local film sets. His family friend, photographer Flor Garduño introduced him to the art of photography. By 13, he was a PA for small commercials, music videos, and indie features. In high school, he worked for Trisha Ziff and Michael Nyman at 212 Berlin and then studied Directing Intensive under Michael Uno for a summer at USC. He graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Film and Art History from Chapman University Dodge College. He was awarded with the ASC Heritage Award, 1st Place Kodak International Scholarship Award, and had a film in the finalists for the Student Academy Awards all before graduating college. Today he works internationally as a music video, commercial, documentary, and feature film cinematographer.
